Dan Metcalfe

Hello and welcome to my developing webpage.

I am currently a post-doctoral research associate at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) employed by Peter Högberg and Sune Linder. I am working on a large-scale forest 13C isotopic labelling experiment which should provide novel insights into the factors that control patterns and rates of forest carbon allocation.

From September 2008, I will be taking up another position at the Environmental Change Institute, within the Oxford University Centre of the Environment as a Junior Research Fellow in Tropical Forest Science. I will be working with Yadvinder Malhi within the Ecosystem Dynamics group. My principal focus will be on coordinating a large-scale investigation of above- and below-ground carbon cycling at six tropical forest sites across the Amazon.

I completed my PhD in December 2006 at the University of Edinburgh, looking at carbon dynamics and climate change in the Amazon rainforest. I was a member of the Global Change research Group within the School of Geosciences. My supervisors were Patrick Meir, Mathew Williams and Yadvinder Malhi.

For a more detailed description of my current activities and general background please use the links at the top. If you want to get in touch with me (to request article offprints, for example) please use my contact details below.
